COERR Organized Livelihood Training for Displaced Persons during October-November 2019

   During October - November 2019, COERR organized a variety of training such as food processing; soap, shampoo and washing liquid making; cloth dyeing; bamboo basket weaving for healthcare herbal steaming, etc.

   COERR Mae Hong Son organized 2 day-training in Ban Mai Nai Soi, Mae Hong Son’s Mueang District, of Washing Liquid Making on November 14th, and Food Processing on November 16th.

   COERR Mae Sarieng organized Food Processing at Ban Mae Lama Luang and Ban Mae La Oon in Sob Moei District, Mae Hong Son Province. On November 4th, there was banana powder making training, of which green bananas were sun-dried and ground to become powder, then packed in plastic bag. On November 5th, a banana cake making training using ripe bananas was organized.

   On November 6th - 8th , there were soap making, shampoo making and washing liquid making and packaging training.

   After the training, participants made appointment that they would meet on November 19th to produce more banana cake, soap, shampoo and washing liquids in order to sell in Livelihood Fair during November 20th - 21st. This training had 10 participants, including 1 handicapped.

   COERR Mae Sot organized “Bamboo Basket Weaving for Healthcare Herbal Steaming” as to preserve local wisdom to remain, as well as to generate income for elderly, on November 7th, in which 40 eldery of 26 female and 14 male participated, at Mae La.

   Also on November 7th, in Mae La, the “Old Bag Dyeing for Reusing” was organized for children and youth to dye their old, stained bags in order to look like new ones, as well as to learn a skill in dyeing that they may use as income generation. 300 children and youth, consisting of 167 female and 133 male joined this interesting training.

   Training of dyeing old and stained clothes and bags like new ones was organized in Nupo, Umphang District, Tak Province, on November 19th – 20th .

   COERR Mae Sot also organized Food Processing Training and after that, supported tools and equipment for income generation of the food processing groups set up in all three shelters:

   In Mae La, a training was organized during October 30th -31st , in which 9 youth attended. Later, a Group of Sweetened Fried Banana Slices and Fried Potato Chips was formed with all 4 female members.

   In Umpiem, a training was organized during November 18th – 19th, in which 1 male and 3 female attended. Later, these 4 members formed a Group that makes Banana Paste Candies for income generation.

   At Ban Nupo, a training was organized during November 6th -7th, in which 10 female attended. 5 of them then formed a Group of Karen Chili Paste and Sweetened Fried Banana Slices Making.
